adding principles to achieve unity

I guess I was just looking at the visual unity of the whole design. I added what I thought would visually bring everything together better. I wasn't trying to add any specific principles. But I guess looking back on it - the fading lines would be a form of balance and repetition and the border would maybe also be a form of balance. So I guess I added more balance and repetition to my design to achieve better unity.

ALSO - one other thing I realized is that I should have saved this particular image as a GIF rather than a JPEG. A GIF would have been better quality because there were no colors used.
I also used a grid in GIMP to line up the elements. (project 2)
I added some fade-out lines to my design and a border to help achieve better unity all-around. I thought the lines helped to tie together the different elements of the design and I thought the border helped encapsulate everything as a whole. If I were to do this over, I would use the golden rectangle shape rather than the long banner shape I originally chose

Project 2

Project 2 was the first actual designing of this class. It was pretty simple but also kind of fun. I used GIMP to create my design. Sometimes it can be frustrating for me to use GIMP because I have trouble getting it to do certain simple things. Though it should get better as I use and learn it more. (will finish later)

Project 1

For project 1 I basically just followed all the instructions for each step. It was a matter of reading or analyzing something and writing a response to it. I enjoyed spending some time trying to find what I thought was a good web page after viewing the good and bad ones from the assignment. Reading the MIT article took some time but it was helpful. It made me think about how an audience might percieve a design I create.
